Before creating a new website, updating one or doing any marketing, know your audience. It is the “Key to Success” according to Forbes Entrepreneurs in an article from several years back by Jayson DeMyers. It still remains true and why I want to write about this critical subject.
Everyone knows that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the key to getting people to your website, so that you can explain your services or products and sell them. We do this at Perugi Design by researching key words that people will use to search for your services online. We add them to the back end and also incorporate them in the text of your most important pages and posts. But do you know who the people are that will likely buy your product? What are their interests, wants and needs? So, before we go any further, we need to step back and look at that.
A market research campaign gives you the information you need about the audience you wish to attract. If you can find out their most urgent concerns and what they focus on when making a purchase, then you will be able to reach them more effectively with your design, copy and overall content. If you need help determining who your audience is, then I suggest following this link to Search Engine Land and recommended by Forbes.
You may ask: How do I attract customers who value my product to the extent that they are willing to pay it’s true value? Do you need to change your product, change a design, create more options in your services? Or, do you need to find and attract the right people to your website? Or both? Doing the work upfront to identify that audience will go a long way to your overall success in your business.
